Ever wonder about the strangers that pass you by on the street, who they are and what they are doing, I do.
Showing someone that you are interested in them by simply saying hello elicits a smile and a response and it helps break down the barrier of the other, making the strange seem less strange. In an attempt to demonstrate this I not only say hello but also ask, I find you interesting can I take your portrait?
What I have found is something I think we all already know, people are so endlessly fascinating. We all have such unique and different perspectives but at the same time so much in common, and we all want to connect.
I love the few fleeting minutes we spend together when photographing these Street Portraits, connecting through photography at 1/200 of a second. I hope you will enjoy these images too and get inspired to say hello to someone you don’t know, #sayhelloottawa.
